MANY MISHAPS


Injured Woman Identifed


     A woman patient at the Royal Melbourne Hospital who was admitted on Tuesday after she had collapsed in a tram in the city was identified yesterday as Mrs Harriet Stafford aged 65 years of Balmerino avenue Toorak. Mrs Stafford's condition is serious.

Dressing Gown Ignited


     While lighting a candle at her bedside early yesterday morning Mrs Margaret Doebells, aged 66 years, of Mount Alexander road, Moonee Ponds, accidentally ignited her dressing-gown. She tore off the dressing-gown, but not before she had been burned. Mrs. Doebells, who is a cripple and who has been living with her sister Miss Mary Murphy was taken to a private hospital.

Stevedore Killed by Winch


     While working close to a winch on board the steamer Nauru Chief at the Yarraville wharves yesterday, Ernest Linton Stevcdore, aged 56 years, of Shields street, North Melbourne was fatally injured when his coat caught in the mechanism. Before his fellow workmen could reach him Linton had been drawn into the winch. He was critically injured and died in an ambulance on the way to hospital.

Fire Extinguisher Bursts


     A fire extinguisher burst while it was being handled at the factory of Laycock Son, and Co., woollen manufacturers, of Normanby street South Melbourne yesterday, by Robet Winchombe, aged 21, of Crichton street, Port Melbourne. Winchcombe was taken in an ambulance to the Alfred Hospital where he was admitted suffering from a fractured jaw and a probable fracture of the skull.
